Tulip Tree Family Health Care is committed to providing quality, affordable health care services to all residents of Gibson County and the surrounding areas regardless of race, age, disability, sex, or financial ability.  
Tulip Tree Family Health Center provides primary health care, including education, diagnosis, and treatment through a community facility.

Our Leadership Team

  • Maureen Shepherd, Executive Director

Maureen joined Tulip Tree Family Health Care in 2012 as Administrator.  She has worked in healthcare for over 20 years primarily in clinical management and program development.  Maureen works on a part-time basis and focuses on writing grants, fundraising, quality improvement and as a resource for other team members.

  • Allison Williams, Administrator

Allison joined Tulip Tree in 2015 as Administrator.  Allison has fourteen years of health management experience in both office and hospital settings.  She is responsible for day-to-day operation of the clinic, human resources, finance, IT, quality improvement and strategic planning.

  • Suzanne Lane RN, Clinical Manager

Suzanne assumed responsibility for the clinical operations of the medical program in 2016.  Suzanne's prior experience is in hospital nurse management and quality improvement.  She manages the clinical team and provides support to the medical providers.  Suzanne focuses on quality improvement goals and patient education.

  • Carrie Conklin, Front Office and Billing Manager

Carrie has been with Tulip Tree Family Health Care since 2008 moving to a full time role in 2014.  Carrie has extensive experience in office operations and physician office billing.  She is responsible for the front desk team, billing and collections, provider credentialing and other areas of back office operations.

Our Providers

All our providers are fully licensed and individually credentialed in the many insurance plans accepted by Tulip Tree Family Health Care.  They are committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive care for their patients. 

Medical Provider Team:

  • Mellisa Hall FNP-C

Mellisa joined Tulip Tree in 2005.  She has been a Nurse Practitioner for more than 20 years.  Mellisa works on a part-time basis in coordination with her full time position as Chair of the Masters of Science in Nursing Program at USI.  She sees long-term patients as well as newer patients at Tulip Tree.

  • Vinie Scamman FNP-BC

Vinie joined Tulip Tree in 2016 after moving to Gibson County to be near family.  She brings 20 years of Nurse Practitioner experience working in family practice and urgent care settings on the east coast, including six years in a Community Health Center.  Vinie enjoys caring for patients of all ages.

  • J. Christopher Sartore MD

Dr. Sartore has served as Tulip Tree’s Medical Director since 2012.  He does not see patients but works in collaboration with Tulip Tree's Nurse Practitioners.  He provides required chart review and is available for medical consultation on complex cases.  Medicaid patients select Dr. Sartore as their provider in order to be seen at Tulip Tree.

  • Bruce Brink Jr. DO

Dr. Brink serves as Assistant Medical Director.  He has a full time family practice in Princeton.  He has been involved with Tulip Tree since its beginning.

Dentist Team:

  • Naga Alapati DDS

Dr. Alapati joined Tulip Tree’s dental program as lead dentist in 2015.  She is a graduate of the New York University School of Dentistry.  Dr. Alapati enjoys working with dental patients of all ages and is committed to improving access to dental care in our community.

  • Ryan Kapp DMD

Dr. Kapp is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.  Since July 2016, he works one day a week at Tulip Tree in addition to his regular dental practice in Newburgh Indiana.  His desire to provide quality care to the underserved comes from his experience working at a similar clinic during his dental school training.

  • David P Walters DDS

Dr. Walters retired from his full time practice in Princeton but still enjoys using his dentist skills.  He joined the Tulip Tree dental team late in 2016 so he can continue to give back to his community by providing dental care to those who have limited access.

Behavioral Health:

  • Ethel Elkins LCSW

Ethel joined Tulip Tree in 2013 when we opened our small behavioral health program to serve Tulip Tree patients.  She provides counseling services one day per week to individuals and families.  Ethel works full time at USI as a professor in the Health Services Program.  She is a graduate of USI School of Social Work.
